Pure Cotton Fleece Lined Joggers

No, I don't recommend this
They are generally ok and very warm, but I am now finding them a little itchy and little pieces of the fleece lining are breaking away. (I'm therefore a little worried for when they have to have their first wash, so this might need to be by hand)

Just what my husband needed Being less mobile these days my husband needs warm clothing and these fit the bill. I have since bought a second pair. It would have been a better purchase with a longer length option because when you sit down cuffed ankles always ride up leaving a chilly gap.

100% cotton? Website says yes, care label says no!
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
Elderly dad was looking for warmer joggers than the M&S drawstring cotton rich straight-leg M&S ones he wears in the warm and slightly cooler months. He really likes those and was looking for a warmer, thicker version, hopefully with a straight leg. The composition of his current cotton-rich joggers is down as being 82% cotton, 17% polyester and 1% elastane (exclusive of trimmings). My relative has slightly sensitive skin and sometimes polyester can be an issue - depends on the nature/weave/feel of the fabric. Thankfully the standard joggers work fine. So imagine my joy when I found these on the website! M&S "Pure cotton" fleece-lined joggers! Yay! These looked to be the solution for the much colder weather. OK, they have an elasticated ankle but I'd be able to remove the elastic and convert them to a straight leg like his existing joggers. Would M&S consider making a straight-legged version in future as many older people like that style as it looks more like a trouser? And the M&S website showed the composition as being: 100% cotton (exclusive of trimmings). Wonderful! 100% cotton - the fleece too (I know that is a thing, not every fleece is polyester)! This seemed perfect but maybe it was too good to be true. The joggers arrived. I had a look at the care label...and the 100% cotton claim turned out to be too good to be true. Here's what appears on the care label inside the joggers: 100% cotton body lining 100% polyester ribbing 97% cotton 3% elastane/spandex exclusive of trimmings So what does that mean? Is the main body fabric 100% cotton? The fleece lining 100% polyester? The ribbing at the waist 97% cotton and 3% elastane/spandex? And then the sewing thread, drawstring, elastic, drawstring ends and care labels come under trim? M&S can you explain why your website says one thing but your care labels say something else entirely? Please amend the details as the item is not quite what a buyer expects. As it happens, the nature of the fleece lining is not causing my dad any issues but that's just down to luck. If there had been a problem when he was testing out one pair, I'd have kept that pair for hubby and returned the unworn pair for refund. So plus and minus... Fit is good. They are soft and warm. They are comfortable. The navy is nice - but more choice in colour please! Elasticated ankle cuff does keep out drafts but is not great for elderly people with swollen feet or legs, so a straight leg would be nice and also looks a lot smarter. Many others prefer the look of a straight leg - looks less like sportswear. Can't comment on how they wash but not expecting any issues. Composition - this is the main issue. Don't have this listed on your website as 100% cotton (even in the care details) when it is clearly not so! It is misleading. It's only down to the misdescription and the elasticated ankle that I've dropped this down to a 3 rather than a 4 or 5 rating.
