A bright, crisp and citrusy dry white from the Greek Island of Santorini, with zingy aromas of lime blossom and honeyed gooseberry flavours.
Santorini is an amazing place to make wine, an arid region where the hot sun is tempered by the Meltemi sea wind. M&S winemaker Jeneve Williams was delighted to select a special parcel of this wine made by local expert Matthew Argyros who crafts this wine principally from the local Assyrtico grape variety, sourced from 60-year-old vines that cling in low bushes to the island’s mineral-rich volcanic slopes.

Atlantis white wine from Greece
Yes, I recommend this
This is a brilliant example of the best white wine Greece has to offer from the best maker in Santorini. The only problem I have, and why I bought a half case online is that M&S seem to have stopped stocking it in our local branches. Is this part of a policy to dumb down the wines available in store?

So good - try it now
Yes, I recommend this
We visited the Argyros Vineyard this year when in Santorini and tried the wine, it really is as good at home as it was in the sunshine. Our favourite wine and grape in the world is Assyrtiko. This however is a blend with 90% Assyrtiko, 5% Aidani and 5% Athiri. Pretty much good with any food, but we like to celebrate and cook nice Greek meals to accompany. Only downside is it keeps going out of stock, get more M&S!!

Divine
Yes, I recommend this
An excellent wine for all seasons, and not just for Santorini. I discovered this at M&S last year and was really pleasantly surprised. It goes well with most dishes and on its own, but my favourite is fresh cod fillets with a few capers, chopped red pointed peppers and a drizzle of Greek olive oil in the oven at 190c for 35-40mins. To accompany, boiled baby potatoes roughly mashed with crashed garlic, 2-3tbsp of olive oil, 1tbsp of vinegar, chopped parsley, salt and pepper to taste. Divine!

Very good value for money. An excellent choice.

Poor
No, I don't recommend this
Assyritko is very nice to drink when you're in Santorini, with the sun beating down, but this one is poor back here. Might be nicer in summer This one is too acidic, gave me indigestion.

Wine for the summer
Yes, I recommend this
Typical assyrtiko. The "juice" of a small piece of land. Sun and sea breeze add more X factor. Perfect with sea bass and fennel.

Beautiful Fresh Sumer wine
Yes, I recommend this
I'd been hunting for this wine for ages after falling in love with it in Santorini ! I couldn't believe that good old M & S stock it ! A truly beautiful fresh summer wine, drinking this wine (especially on a summers day) reminds me of our time in Santorini ! Definitely recommend !

Perfect with seafood
Yes, I recommend this
This is based in a unique grape of Greece (Assyrtiko). The volcanic soil of Santorini certainly plays its role here. Excellent next to fish and great value for money as well.

Thrilled to find this!
Yes, I recommend this
Having just returned from Santorini where I have been drinking this fabulous wine for the past two weeks, I was thrilled to find it in M&S! I wouldn't normally go for Greek wine - unless I want to remove my nail varnish! - but Santorini wine is different, and a far cry from the more typical Retsina. Apparently, it's all to do with the soil which is rich in volcanic minerals, and the fact that the grapes grow on what appear to be bushes rather than the more typical vine, but it tastes really robust and fruity. Now, if only M&S would also stock the rose, I'd be in seventh heaven!

A great summer wine to have with BBQ fish
Yes, I recommend this
Lovey aromas of white pepper, grass and citrus. A zingy, fresh taste of grapefruit, lemon citrus with a steely minerality. This dry Santorini Assyrtiko blend had high acidity, good body and a strong finish.
