Complex yet fresh aromas of cherry, strawberry, mushroom, star anise, chocolate and dried rose petals on the nose. Crisp, firm acidity and a twist of bitter tannin really take hold of the palate and let it run and run... This wine is poised and firm, fruity and full-bodied. It never fades, but grips and entices all the way through.
Barolo is one of the world's most prestigious wines. It is always made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, grown exclusively in the 11 communes around the village of Barolo. Those who know and love it – winemaker Bruno Cordero being among them – call it ‘the king of wines and the wine of kings’. Bruno has grown up with Barolo, and was born in a small village near the local town of Alba. He sources his grapes from 35–45 year old Nebbiolo vines, and ferments them traditionally, maturing them for at least two years in large French oaks.

Outstanding
Yes, I recommend this
Perfect fruit, tannin and lovely oak. Pure heaven! Highly recommended.

Average at best
No, I don't recommend this
I bought a case at the offer price, seduced by the idea of Barolo at under £14 a bottle. What a disappointment. After it had breathed for a while the wine was drinkable, though the notes promised much more than it delivered. Frankly it was very average, with little excitement on the nose and dull on the palate. I later discovered that 2009 was not a good year for Barolo and that wine from the La Mora commune was hit harder than some of the others. Should have done my research first.

I have made a complaint about this wine as it has oxidised.

No, I don't recommend this
I had much higher expectation from this Barolo from M&S and this brand really let me down.
