Product code: 00575379
South Australia's historic Barossa Valley, close to Adelaide, is considered one of the most important wine regions in the country. This rich, spicy Barossa Shiraz shows why full-bodied reds from the region are so highly prized.
The Barossa Valley has a wealth of older vineyards, many in particularly sunny spots where the grapes get especially ripe. This wine is made from 100% Barossa Shiraz, mainly from warm areas, but with some fruit from cooler, higher vineyards which adds freshness and complexity. The result is a classic Barossa red. Winemaker Matt Gant aged a proportion in American oak barrels for 16 months

Go-to wine
Yes, I recommend this
This is a cracker of a wine, and a terrific bargain at the price. It has the depth of flavour and body that you would expect from an Australian shiraz, but it's not the kick in the teeth that some of those can give you - indeed it is more elegant than you might expect at this price point. A hint of soft vanilla lingers on the after-taste, though the main flavours are dark berries. There is some complexity to this. It's the bottle of wine that I will invariably add to the shopping basket when I find myself in the M & S wine aisle. Heartily recommended.

Not quite as good as 2010
Yes, I recommend this
I really enjoyed the 2010 bottle. My go to wine for something a bit better than the usual. The 2011 bottles are still great value, but have lost a little bit compared to 2010. Maybe I will learn to love it, but on first tasting I preferred the 2010.

Now back on-line as the 2011
Yes, I recommend this
We've been enjoying the superb 2010 for ages, for both everyday and special occasions. From the Barossa, always a good indication, and St Halletts are involved - another + pointer. Sadly though, as stocks diminished, it was increasingly difficult to find in-store, and never on the web site. Delighted now to find it back as the following year's vintage has been released, with sheer drinkability maintained. Full bodied and not too spicy, great with steak, pizza, everything! Try a bottle. Then buy a case or two, while you can. Love it. You can probably tell.
