This medium-bodied red wine, packed with plump cassis fruit, is made by celebrated winemaker Marc Kent.

About this bottle: In the winelands heart, Stellenbosch, benefits from cool breezes that extend the ripening period and intensify the red fruit flavours. These are combined with a judicious use of french oak that adds a sleek sophistication and a dark coffee finish to the wine. To preserve maximum character only gentle filtration has been used so there may be a harmless sediment.

Vintage: 2012

Generous aromas of blackcurrant and sweet cassis lead to intense blackcurrant and vanilla flavours that fill the palate. Then spicy, savoury notes of rhubarb and star anise mix in towards the finish adding gentle complexity.

About this bottle: New Zealander Grant Phelps cut his teeth in cool-climate winemaking working in Oregon, Hungary, Australia, California, New Zealand and Argentina before finally arriving in Chile to make wine. His wide experience has taught him to bring out the very finest nuances of any grape – and none is more deserving than this complex Cabernet Sauvignon from vines an average age of 65 years old (the oldest vineyards planted in 1900, the youngest in 1980). Grant has been making wine in Chile for 13 years.
