Set of 2 Slate Placemats

I had been looking for something similar to this for a while so was very pleased when I found these ones. The style is nice and they looked good on my dining table however, small pieces of slate keep coming off, they are sharp pieces and I am so disappointed that a piece has actually scratched my brand new table, not to mention my little boy could quite easily cut himself on them. Would not recommend.

I bought 2 sets of these along with the matching coasters in store today. I did wonder whether or not to buy them as most of the sets had either cracked or were broken. I decided to buy them and help M&S stay in business due to the Covid 19 crisis and also because I could see what I was buying. Upon arriving home I gently brushed my finger along the edges and to my amazement the slate just flaked away which is surprising considering they are so heavy. I accept that the placemats are a natural product but did not expect them to be so fragile. Maybe on reflection I should have read the reviews 1st

The table mats look very good. They are very heavy so have them Delivered unless you are very strong. If you have the children I would suggest caution, as the edges of the mat are uneven and sharp. When opening them and taking them on the table I had very minor finger abrasions.There were tiny pieces of the slate that had come off the mats in the box. The package is prettily tied with black ribbon and look good.They are sharp to touch along the four edges. Therefore I recommend it with a caution. They look good treat them carefully.

Really loved receiving these as a present. Look great only downside is one split in 2 after a couple of weeks!

I ordered four boxes online and sadly had to return two as the placemats were damaged. I have slate coasters ( not from M &S )and the quality is far superior.

I am happy with my purchase. The slate is of good quality, but chips easily if you are not careful when handling. I ordered six placemats but had to return one set as they were broken. This is the second order I have had to return to M&S in one week, due to damaged items. I order online to save time, it’s a shame that I have to keep returning items.
