How to plan an Easter egg hunt
Easter egg hunts are often the highlight of Easter, and these top tips will help ensure your hunt goes smoothly.
Top tip: Take a picture of where you’ve hidden the eggs. Also, make sure there are no pets in the garden – we don’t want them finding the chocolate first!
What you'll need:
A bucket or basket to collect the eggs
Equal amounts of chocolate for each hunter
Easy-to-access places to hide the eggs
A safe, designated area for the hunt (we don’t want hunters running around cars or near sharp tools)

Easter baking ideas

Chocolate nest cakes
A chocolate nest cake is a classic Easter treat that’s perfect for baking with kids, and it can easily be adapted to suit your tastes. Whether you use milk or dark chocolate and top it with speckled eggs or your favourite Percy and Colin sweets – you’re guaranteed a delicious creation.
You can make a traditional chocolate nest cake or for something smaller, pop cupcake cases into a cupcake tin and spoon your chocolatey cornflake mixture into the cases. Chill them before topping them with your Easter goodies.

Hot cross bun desserts
If you’ve had hot cross buns for breakfast, why not have them for dessert too? First up, try these outrageously chocolatey hot cross bun churros, dipped in melty chocolate. If you're after something a bit lighter, this lemon curd hot cross bun-infused ice cream combines juicy blackberries and crunchy lemon meringue sprinkles.
For a classic dessert, you can’t go wrong with our banoffee bread and butter pudding, drizzled in sticky toffee sauce and sprinkled with blond chocolate and caramelised pecans. And if you really want to go big, try an epic trifle with layers of hot cross buns, caramelised bananas, salted caramel sauce, dark chocolate, and Madagascan vanilla custard.

How to paint Easter eggs
Painting eggs is a great way to celebrate the season, and it’s an activity the whole family can enjoy.
To prep your eggs, make a small hole at the top, insert a straw, and gently blow out the contents. Alternatively, a baby aspirator offers a hygienic way to avoid contact with raw yolk.
If you prefer, you can also hard boil your eggs before decorating, though these won’t last as long.
Be sure to clean your eggs thoroughly and leave them to drain on a kitchen towel. Once decorated, you can thread a ribbon through them and hang them on a tree, use them in your egg hunt, or simply display them.

Egg decorating ideas
Dye them: Fill bowls or cups with warm water, add one teaspoon of vinegar and one teaspoon of food colouring. Place your egg in the dye for five minutes and lift it out with tongs.
All that glitters: For a touch of glitz, dip the base of the egg in glue and roll in glitter. Leave the egg upside down in an egg cup to dry.
Make it your own: Personalise each egg by painting an initial or spelling out a name. Use a permanent marker for precision or paint if you have a steady hand.
Get stripey: Wrap rubber bands or tape around your egg before dipping. Remove the bands and you'll reveal crisp, eye-catching stripes.
Stick it down: Got some stickers lying around? Place a fun-shaped one, like a star or heart, on your egg before dipping it in dye.
Artistic streak: Try painting flowers, abstract patterns, or even fun characters. Start with a light undercoat and sketch your design with a pencil before painting.
